Hugh Edwards

Hugh started drumming at the age of 9 when his Godfather, who played for numerous bands such as The Bee Gee’s and Atomic Rooster, gave him a pair of sticks and a lesson.

From then, Hugh was a drumming addict. Addicted to drums that is, not an addict who also happens to drum..

Hugh has been in lots of local bands and toured with acts such as Birmingham-based Ark, sessioned in Ronnie Scotts jazz club (alas now closed) and has recorded for producers such as Kim Fowley and Jon Sweet.

More recently, Hugh as worked as a session drummer on various artists albums, such as Charlotte Tomkinson, Aurora J Young, Kevin O’Reardon, The Tindalls, George Dobell,  and the late John Wright.

Hugh released a solo album (with Jem) in 1997 under the name The Institution, where Hugh & Jem played all the music and Hugh Sang. Guest spot guitarist from Jim of course!

Hugh is also an award-nominated composer for the computer games industry, having worked on over 120 game titles. Sometimes this involves collaborations with the other members of Leatherat, where the group use the name Dogfighter to release music. An example of this can be seen here:
