Stuff you never knew.....
Leatherat have played to over 150,000 people during the course of their existence and in more than 300 venues, festivals, clubs and pubs and are well recognised on the touring festival circuit.
Formed in 2004, the lineup originally featured Kevin West and Tim Durham for the first album “Temporary Immortality” and Bret Nichols on the second album “Garden of Eden”. Jim Bennion joined us to record and tour our third album “Short Time on Earth”.
The band has been featured on television and radio shows, has toured in Europe and is currently signed to the MeatyMusic label.
Noted guest musicians on the Leatherat albums have been Ric Sanders and Chris Leslie (Fairport Convention), Tom Leary (Feast of Fiddles), PJ Wright & Gareth Turner (Little Jonny England) & many more.
At the 2010 Cropredy festival, Leatherat supported Status Quo. The very next day, rumours circulated the 20,000 strong crowd that Leatherat had broken onto the Quo tour bus, smashed it up in a rock and roll frenzy and stolen all the Quo’s beer…..
Leatherat have shared stages with many famous acts including Levellers, Hawkwind (Space Ritual), Fairport Convention, Status Quo, Jethro Tull, 3 Daft Monkeys, Seth Lakeman, Newton Faulkner, Steve Harley, Scouting For Girls, and The Christians; as well as getting drunk with Iron Maiden!
Influences of the band are Levellers, Fairport Convention, Hawkwind, Wolfstone and in Hugh’s case… Foo Fighters!
